Let’s talk about the world of health and fitness and the role of advertising lets start with the definition.
Advertising is a means of communication with the users of a product or service. Advertisements are messages paid for by those who send them and are intended to inform or influence people who receive them, as defined by the Advertising Association.
Taking this into considerations do we really think that these major corporations are 100% truthful.
For example the supermarket shelves are now filled with these “wonderful” low fat products no sugar products and high protein packaged foods!
But what they are not telling us is low fat normally means high in sugar, no sugar normally means loaded with sweeteners and sugar alcohols and pre packaged meats that are high in protein are normally filled with salts and preservatives.
It would take a whole other article to go into full details on supermarket foods to avoid but certainly is an idea for a future article.
For now Lets get back to advertising and how it may be affecting our pursuit of a happy healthy lean body.
We are constantly bombarded in email, on television and in shopping centres about the latest diet plan or magical workout routine!
All with the promise we will get amazing results in no time at all.
Psychologically this plays on us in a major way it’s human nature to seek the past of least resistance so we tend to all go for the new 10 day food plan or magical 30 day six pack challenge but all this does is put you on the temporary results roundabout and it can be very hard to get off!!!
So what should we do?
Well we may never be able to stop these major corporations putting out false info and trying to trip us up but you have a right to know what’s really healthy out there, my advice here is to use a fitness professional who you trust for genuine advice and feedback.
The industry is filled with passionate trainers coaches and instructors that want nothing more then to see you achieve results and happiness search out these guys and let them help you put a real plan in place going forward.
These guys eat sleep and breath fitness using the trainers in Bodybyrne as an example they all practice what they preach and see the benefits of discipline and hard work when it comes to nutrition exercise and planning week to week, it’s this life experience that makes them ideal candidates to offer advice and methods to achieving real results not a smart tag line to suck you in and have you fooled into thinking a specific pill will help you shed pounds of fat.
In closing my main advice is to seek the opinion of a health professional before subscribing to the latest online diet and exercise plan they will save you money and maybe a lot of frustration!!!
