Only five months after giving birth to her first child, fitness trainer to the stars Siobhan Byrne was back pushing her clients hard in the gym.
And the co-owner of celeb hotspot BodyByrne Fitness said her new mummy attitude has made her sterner than ever.
The wife of fitness guru Paul Byrne, who gave birth to daughter Regan last May, told the Diary: “I have a huge mix of clients – men and women, everyone from models to actors, and they all get pushed.
“They tell me I’m nastier now that I’ve come back after having Regan.”
While Siobhan (33) understands the pressure on new mums and working women to get back into shape, she said there is no room for excuses.
Singer Keith Duffy, TV presenter Grainne Seoige and model Rosanna Davison are among her star pupils in the gym because of their no-nonsense attitude.
“Keith has undergone an incredible transformation since he started training a few years ago, and Grainne is in unbelievable shape now,” said Siobhan.
In particular, she pinpointed the work ethic of Rosanna, who rivals men with her weightlifting skills.
“There’s no better advocate for a healthy lifestyle than Rosanna – she’s great at weight-training,” she said. “She lifts a serious amount of weights and has a figure to die for.
“These are all very determined people – they train very hard and they don’t come in with any excuses.
“It’s not easy – everyone can make excuses, but that’s not going to get you to to the place you want to be.”
After taking five months off with hubby Paul, Siobhan said she is struggling to get back into the routine of 5.30am alarm calls.
“I went back to work two weeks ago, and for the first week it was hard getting up – I was more tired than usual,” she said.
Keen runner Siobhan, who is the ambassador of trainer brand Puma, was getting back into shape just weeks after giving birth.
“Regan’s doing brilliantly, she’s at the six months mark now so she’s flying along. “It’s not as hard as people make out, but I do have an easy baby, so I’m very lucky.”
Siobhan admitted she has had to undergo significant changes since Regan arrived.
ROUTINE
“I understand why new mums fall out of routine – you don’t get as much of a chance to prepare,” she said. “I don’t have time to chop up 20 sweet potatoes the night before.
“You wonder what you did with your time when you were single!
“But it’s just about getting in exercise at a time that suits you.”
