Goal setting is key in all area’s of life and especially in achieving your desired physique.
Heading into a health and fitness plan without specific goals is like going on a road trip without a map, By setting Goals you are training your subconscious mind which is like the supercomputer which directs your life actions to go after what you really want and desire.
Here is a couple of key tips that will help you with your goal setting.
1. Set a specific goal
A goal needs to be as specific as possible so you can work toward it and achieve it. “Lose weight” as a goal is too vague. What exactly do you want to achieve and how? Why do you want to do it?
Feel happy and full of energy from a healthy diet and exercise, this is a much better goal than just to lose weight.
2. Make goals measurable
If you don’t make your goal measurable, How do you know when you’ve reached it. Whether it is pounds or inches lost or how clothes fit, setting a measurable goal is key to achieving it. For example 25 pounds at a healthy rate of a half-pound to a pound per week.
3. Be accountable
Team up with someone who has similar goals and hold them accountable and expect the same in return. Seeing a trainer on a weekly or monthly basis and getting your full stats done is something to commit to and will lead you closer to your target.
4. Set a realistic goal
Ensure your goal is realistic 25 pounds in 2 weeks is an unrealistic goal but spreading this over a 6 month period is. You need to see yourself reaching the goal. It needs to be challenging without being overwhelming.
5. Have a timeframe
If your goal does not have a time limit, you will have trouble starting and staying motivated until the end. So give yourself a target date to work toward. It may end up taking longer, but once you start seeing results on the scale and with how your clothes fit, it will motivate you to achieve your ultimate goal.
There are many steps to take to get to your goal but remember you must have an end destination.
