So welcome to the third week of our challenge. At this stage you will have noticed your muscle soreness that will kick in the day or days after a hard training session.

Don’t be alarmed if you have never experienced this before – this is simply delayed onset muscle soreness, known as DOMS. Your muscles may feel quite tight and achy. So why do we get DOMS when we train? Well, when we train hard, we break muscle fibres. The purpose of doing this is to get them to grow back stronger so we don’t cause damage to them again, thus causing an increase in strength and muscle tone.
